An old friend I hadn't seen in goin' on 50 years got hold of a copy of the Blue Hole book I wrote and called me up to relive old times. When we were young and lived on the river we hunted the ridges and fished the streams a lot.
When we were young and lived on the river we hunted the ridges and fished the streams a lot. I asked if he still gigged suckers and had fish fry's on the river bank. He said they for sure still did and invited me down and we gigged a couple dozen redhorse and hog suckers, enough for a nice mess. I'd plumb forgot that suckers are one of most tasty fishes that swims in the Ozark Mountains streams. It was good to see my old friend again and good to chomp down on a steaming, crispy chunk of suckers meat.
